Since I am an illustrator and want to mix my illustrations with my words in my Medium stories. I was curious about using my images compellingly.

What are the guidelines and suggestions for images on Medium?

The images for this story were inspired by Madonna’s song Vogue. I saw a news article about Beyonce paying homage to the song on her latest album and then the song was stuck in my head.

Image Formats

According to Medium, the platform supports .JPG, .JPEG, .GIF, and .PNG image formats up to 25MB. You can insert images directly from Unsplash. As an illustrator, I’m more interested in using my own original art. It is good to know that animated GIFs are supported.

Image Dimensions

Your images need to be a minimum width of 692px to make sure that your image completely spans the story page. The height of the image can vary.

Image Alt Text

While the image alt text is not required, many people consider the alt tag an important part of SEO(search engine optimization).
