The Apple Vision Pro was announced at the 2023 Apple WWDC on June 5, 2023. We have all waited eagerly to see it make its way out into the world, or have we? Don’t get me wrong, the Apple Vision Pro is an amazing piece of technology, and anyone who knows me will say that I’m an Apple fanboy. Full disclosure: I did not order one and do not have access to one. That said, my opinion of VR (I’m looking at you, Meta) in general is that it takes us away from the world and present moment in a far worse way than our phones and other gadgets do, as we sit together glaring at our glowing screens all the while not interacting in person.

Maybe this is the first step. Maybe the technology is not there yet. I had really hoped for an Augmented Reality or Mixed Reality device that layered nuance and meaning into our daily lives and the world, making it richer and more contextual. Perhaps one day we will get there.

Apple Vision Pro and Vision OS:

Control the Vision Pro with your eyes, voice, and hands. Scale and place apps in space around you.

Eyesight detects people and will display your eyes to others. This seems suspect and needs more clarification…
