How to Get Started Creating Fun Visual Notes and Doodles
For years many people thought that someone doodling or drawing in their notes were not paying attention or daydreaming. Thankfully, we know better now. Teachers, educators, and professionals are all finding the power and delight of creating visual notes.
But, I can type faster on my laptop.
A Scientific American article found that students who hand wrote their notes remembered more and had a deeper understanding of the material than students who toke notes using laptops. The students who used their laptops did take more notes, but understood less.
People who hand write their notes will not record everything a speaker says. They will have to summarize the information and capture the heart of what is being said.
Adding drawing and doodling to your notes.
A psychological experiment at the University of Plymouth in England wanted to determine whether doodling actually benefits attention and memory. The results showed that participants that doodled remembered 29% more information than those who did not.
